The Mason Pearson Pocket Bristle & Nylon brush combines boar bristle clusters and nylon strands with a dark ruby handle, forming an elegant and time-tested brush. Hand-finished with Mason Pearson's original 1885 design, this brush strengthens and protects the hair by coating each strand in the sebum that naturally resides at the root. maybe just not for me?
I remember having a mason pearson as a kid, but I think it was a different one. I wear my hair wavy now, and unless it's close to wash day when my waves have already fallen for the most part, this just makes my hair bushy, though I guess that's to be expected. Probably great for straight hair. Gets dirty easily and hard to clean though.

Best Hair Brush
I know it seems silly to spend this much on a hair brush but there's something special about these. It feels good on your scalp. It detangles wet hair. It doesn't cause breakage. I have the full size and a travel size because i don't like to be without it.

Worth the Splurge
I've tried many Japanese hair brushes, including those that have built-in conditioning bars, and none of the brushes I've own can compare to this brush. This brush made my hair significantly shinier and softer. Now I know what the hype is about! The key is to find bristles that suit your hair type. The nylon and boar mix goes through my hair easier compared to the brush that only has boar bristles. I feel like the nylon and boar mix are more gentle on my scalp too. The nylon is a little prickly at first, but after a couple days of brushing it feels good on the scalp. Keep in mind that the label engraved on the handle can rub off within couple of uses. I sealed it with a clear nail polish right away when I received it. The nail polish can turn the gold lettering into a bronze color, so you can decide whether you want to seal it or not. Another con is that Mason Pearson brushes catches lint and dust easily. The best method to remove those is to use their cleaning brush (more $ to spend).

Could be better for thick hair
This brush is great and makes my hair nice and shiny, plus it's a good size for travel, but it does struggle to detangle my thick hair sometimes.

Only brush I've ever liked
I love my pocket Mason Pearson brush and bring it with me everywhere. It is great at taming flyways and helps me distribute scalp oils without breaking my very fine, thin hair.

Pocket Bristle Brush
Didn't expect to like this product so much, but I finally splurged on it when Dermstore had a hair products sale that included Mason Pearson. I actually wish I had a larger size, but the Pocket model was all I could afford. I don't use it every day - maybe 2-3 times a week when my hair gets oily at the roots. I think it has really changed my hair care game and allowed me to wash my hair less frequently. I have very long, wavy, medium-textured hair. I use the absolute cheapest brand of shampoo and conditioner (Head and Shoulders) and Pantene styling products, but my hair still looks like a million bucks! Definitely worth the investment!

Not worth the price-disappointed
About 25 years ago I bought a bristle and nylon pocket brush that has lasted but the handle is cracked so I decided to replace it. I did spend a lot on that one as I recall (maybe 40- 50 dollars?) but didn't remember the maker. My daughter in law told me it was one of these and given the orange/red rubber base it looked like it could be. So I researched a bit, found this one on sale and ordered it. I got it today and it isn't anywhere near as good as the old one. It hardly looks like it has any "boar" (if that's what they're supposed to be) bristles at all. I would never have spent this much money on this brush but returning a hair brush wouldn't be cool in my opinion and I did have to try it to see if it worked. It's about the same as one I bought in CVS for $12.00 or so...nothing special at all. I gave it 3 stars only because it is a decent brush for fine hair but factoring in the price, it's more like a 1-2. I'm very disappointed. (PS -gotta laugh at the options for rating: scent? I put in 1 -no way to put in N/A, but it keeps coming up "5))

Convinced everyone in my family to get one
Love this brush so much. Your hair feels so much better after brushing with it. I've let so many friends and family members borrow it and they've all purchased it after using mine.

Worth every penny!
Although pricy, this brush is worth every penny. It makes my fine hair shiny and smooth and detangles wet hair with ease.
