No, you want the cap to be directly on your hair with nothing in the way of your hair and the red light. This will ensure you're getting maximum coverage on your scalp and hair.

Do I need to wash my hair before using the hat?

No, you do not need to wash your hair before using the hat, but your hair must be dry when using it.

I have really dark thick hair, will the red light reach my scalp?

Yes. Regardless of hair color or hair density, the healing power of these wavelengths penetrates safely through hair and into the scalp at the hair follicles to stimulate growth.

How long until I see results?

You can carefully remove the LED portion of the hat if you want to clean the cotton hat separately.
Do not use any harsh cleaners.
Use cold water to spot clean.
To spot-clean the LED part of the hat: Remove the battery. Carefully take out the

LED section from the cotton hat. Use a minimal amount of water on a clean washcloth and carefully spot-clean any sections that need attention. Allow to dry fully before reassembly and use.
