Great to clear up acne

I bought for my daughter who struggles with acne on her cheeks.   This wash in combination with Retin-A keeps her skin clear.  When she was out of this skin wash, she had breakouts.   She started using again and the breakouts cleared up.

Pleased with results

I've been using this cleanser for about a month consistently now. Beginning two months ago I embarked on a new skin care regimen to better control hormonal acne along my jawline and chin, which has increased in frequency and intensity for the better part of 3 years. I have PCOS and very mild hirsutism along the sides of my mouth and chin which also contributes to the acne. I was previously using Cetaphil daily wash and moisturizer, and nothing more. Attempted various retinol and vitamin c products with poor outcomes in the interim. After a lot of research (reviews and research papers), I settled on this product with hopes it would control/clear some of the excess sebum production. Only when I received it did I read about the Precleanse product (also by Dermalogica) on the cleanser's packaging. So I ordered a travel-sized version of that as well. I slowly transitioned to using both products day and night. A comment on the Precleanse. It's oil-based and as such, likely has a better hand at clearing pores of lipid-based sebum (remember "like dissolves like" from biology?). I actually think the Precleanse is the game changer in my new regimen. Additionally, I have also incorporated Paula's Choice exfoliant (use at night 2-3x per week) and Paula's Choice azelaic acid cream (blended with cetaphil moisturizer in the morning, and alone at night, after exfoliant). Given all these changes, it's difficult to point to just the cleanser for improving my complexion. I see improvements in redness and scarring-my skin tone is more even. It's been about a month since I've had a cystic outbreak (typically had 1-2 every menstrual cycle). I still developed a few whiteheads with reddening, but all have gone away within a day or two. I intend to give this regimen another few months before giving real praise to any of it. I have also ordered Dermalogica Acne Clearing Moisturizer SPF30 so we'll see how that transitions as well. Some additional information- none of the these products have dried out my face or induce any burning sensation. I can only assume it means these products aren't overly harsh. Given the pandemic, my make-up routine has dwindled now that I work from home. I wear foundation, bronzer, and blush with mascara maybe 3 days per week now, but usually less. As for other lifestyle habits that influence breakouts-I drink a lot of water during the day (at least two 32oz bottles-worth), zero sugar-sweetened beverages, and beer and wine probably 4 days a week. I consume a balanced diet of fresh and frozen produce, lean meats, cheese, whole grains. I eat deli meat several days a week, and usually something chocolatey on the daily. Most meals are made at home, but take out happens 1-2x week. I run for 30-50 min 3x/week. I include all this to say, I have tried to adjust my diet, drinking, exercise, or make-up routine over the years to help with acne. None of it made a difference which, to me, said a lot about the influence of my hormones. Dermatologist recommendations included medications/birth control, but I ultimately decided against it because I intend to have children soon. One final note, I rated the packaging a 2. The cleanser keeps leaking from the lid of the bottle. I have tried to tighten the cap, loosen the cap, leave the cap pushed to 'open', but nothing has helped. As this is my first bottle, I'm not sure if it's an isolated defect or a pervasive problem. It's rather frustrating given the cost of the cleanser that is now just wasted on my shelf, not to mention the mess it creates. I'm hopeful it's an isolated issue and just going with it for now...

Love Dermalogica!

I have tried a couple of other Dermalogica face washes in the past that I have enjoyed as well. I have acne prone skin and figured this Active wash would be good for my concerns. It is a gel cleanser that does not dry my face out or leave my face tight like others. I enjoy using this in my face routine.

Love This Face Wash

I have acne prone skin and, as a 30-year-old, I had basically resigned myself to the fact that I would forever be using face wash intended for hormonal teens. That was until I found the MediBac line from Dermalogica. I love how these products never over dry my skin. Seriously, my skin is in great shape these days! I definitely recommend this face wash.

Not good - quite bad

I have congested, acne prone skin and this just made my skin worse. I broke out and my skin became terribly dry and scaly. I experienced a burning sensation on my face after each use, perhaps because of the menthol that was inexplicably added to the product. I have discontinued use with over 3/4 of the bottle left and will certainly not repurchase.

Great Face Wash!

Face wash works great on my oily skin. I like the smooth texture and it works up a nice lather. A small amount goes a long way.

Excellent Gentle Cleanser for sensitive skin

This is a great cleanser that leaves my face clean but not squeaky-clean-cracked-and-dry. I have very oily sensitive acne prone african-american skin. I use this every morning and night and follow with the dermologica night overnight treatment or clearing mattifier and sunblock. I keep getting carded at the same wine store because the clerk thinks I'm 18 but I'm 31 :)

dermalogica acne medi bac wash

pretty good for acne however not a MAJOR overhaul difference as I had hoped. perhaps if i used it with the entire product line I may have clearer results. I am currently testing right side vs left side to see if there's more noticable change (vs dermalogica special cleansing gel)
