SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex .25 is formulated to renew the skin's tone and texture without irritating the skin. Retinol helps combat the signs of premature aging while magnolia bark extract soothes inflammation. Ideal for use twice a week to build tolerance to formula.

Apply in the evening after cleansing and toning and before applying your moisturizer. If a retinol product has never been used before, begin twice a week 2-3 days apart, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Apply to the entire face. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
Caution: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Mild redness, peeling and irritation are expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 30 or higher and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week following discontinuation.

No noticeable difference
My dermatologist recommended this product as an alternative to her in-house brand which was even more silicone-heavy than this one by Skinmedica. I began using it according to directions, slowly building up to nightly application as of a month ago. This must be too weak a retinol formula for me, as I'm noticing no change whatsoever. At least it's obviously very gentle, and the scent is fine, not at all overwhelming. I have oily skin & large pores, even at age 62. Planning to try the .5 strength next. I wish the container could include a transparent section so one would know when to re-order.

I've finally jumped on the bandwagon and purchased a retinol cream. So far I have been using it every other night for the last several weeks. I definitely noticed a little bit of flakiness the next morning, but nothing a good moisturizer can't help with. No redness. Great for beginners
