SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 1.0 enhances the skin's appearance to promote a smoother, rejuvenated complexion. Formulated for skin types pre-conditioned to retinol treatments, it minimizes the appearance of age spots and wrinkles. It also improves elasticity and works effectively to visibly reduce acne scars. With continued use, faster cell renewal is encouraged.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.

Amazingly Potent
I had been using another 1% retinol product before starting this one, so I was shocked at all the peeling I have experienced with this product. It is so potent! I love the texture. I have only been using it a couple months so can't speak to collagen production just yet, but it very quickly made my skin fresher, clearer and smoother, and my pores smaller. Healing from the occasional spot is rapid with this stuff. I'm still experiencing a bit of peeling, actually, and I even use this on top of a moisturizer. It's possible the effects are intensified because I use Biologique Recherche P50 1970 as well (just once a day), but I also suspect it might be due to the other goodies in this complex that boost the retinol's effects. In any case, I love this retinol and doubt whether I will need to transition to tretinoin at all within the next decade, or ever. This product seems powerful enough for me. It is quite amazing. Get it! Now!

Too harsh for sensitive skin
Ive used SkinMedica Retinol for 3 years now and I love the brand and their retinol formulations. Started with the 0.25 formula and then moved to 0.5. Once i felt my skin could handle the 0.5 i thought of using the 1.0 but it was way too strong for my skin. Their product is great but i would not recommend for sensitive skin as it can cause burning. Anyone looking to try this product, i would start with the 0.25 and move up to see what your skin can handle. I am sticking to the 0.5 and am happy with the results. Its definitely a quality retinol and if your skin can handle it i am sure you will notice clearer skin and less lines.

A HOLY GRAIL RETINOL
Quit scrolling at reviews and just buy the dang retinol! Your skin will thank you later - trust me. It might be a hefty price tag for only 1fl oz, but this is sent from the gods. Liquid gold in a bottle. After ONE USE I noticed change in my skin. I had never used a retinol before, only ones from Sephora. Which are nothing compared to medical grade retinol. So if you're debating on which brand, I would highly suggest SkinMedica. They are the best in the buz for skincare products that are medical grade. Though, I would warn you, to start the retinol 1x/week for a month, then increase to 2x/week the following month, and so on. I'm so glad my esthetician gave me that tip because otherwise I would've been peeling more than I already am! Im on month 3 now and I notice an overall brightness happening. My pores are slowly shrinking and I cant wait to see whats going to happen when I start using it every night! Just do it - its worth the $$$!

Results after three days
Wow, this is amazing stuff. I have used it three nights and my skin is already sloughing. I will pull back to every two days because it is very potent but this is exactly what I expected so I am THRILLED my expectations were met. Retinol will cause irritation so if you have highly sensitive skin, maybe use the .5. I have always had "rough" skin so the higher concentration works for my skin but it may not be for everyone. Highly recommend.

Very Potent But Very Effective
I've been an avid OTC retinol user for years, and this is truly one of the most potent of them all. I started out 2 nights in a row and had some flaking and peeling. Then I pulled back and started using it every 2 nights for a few weeks because this stuff is incredibly strong. Now I'm using it every other night and my skin is really starting to look great! I use a really good night cream when I use this and also add in a face oil to keep moisturized. If you're new to retinol, I would suggest starting out with a lower concentration and slowly working your way up. As with any new skincare regimen, give it time. The results will be glowing!
