SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 1.0 enhances the skin's appearance to promote a smoother, rejuvenated complexion. Formulated for skin types pre-conditioned to retinol treatments, it minimizes the appearance of age spots and wrinkles. It also improves elasticity and works effectively to visibly reduce acne scars. With continued use, faster cell renewal is encouraged.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.

Pricy but worth it
I have been using skin medica retinol for over two years now. It took some time to build up the capability to use it everyday but my acne prone skin has never been better. Its more clear and even toned. Will definately repurchase.

Unfortunately Did Not Work For Me
This was extremely strong, I have combination-dry skin that tolerates retinol. I've used retinol on and off for several years but couldn't get my skin to tolerate this. I tried buffering with moisturizer first, and mixing it with my moisturizer, nothing helped my skin from becoming red and looking blistered.

My favorite retinol
I have used this for the past couple of years. I really like it. I find that it helps my skin to remain healthy. There can be a bit of peeling if you use too much. It might be better to use it every other day until you find out how your skin will react.

A Must Have
Over the past year I've been working myself up to the 1.0 strength from the .25 and .50. My skin did take a bit longer to get use to this one, I'm still experiencing the flaking and dryness 2 months into use but it has done it's job at keeping my skin clear. This is a product that I cannot live without.

Trying something new
I bought this retinol to switch it up a little from the Avene retinol. It seems a little stronger than the Avene, even though they both are 0.1% I like it so far, but I won't recommend applying to the neck. I use the Avene and its fine, but his one made my neck super dry and red.

Great Product but Use with Caution on Sensitive Skin
I purchased this product thinking that it would be like other retinol products that I've used in the past. No way! This product delivers. It's very potent, so it's important to be very careful with it. I have sensitive skin and can only use one time per week. I made the mistake of using 2 pumps of product one evening and burnt my skin for over a week. It was very red and peeled something terrible. The directions say 1 pump for a reason. I'm giving it 5 starts because it's a great product. Just be aware that it does what it says and it should be used according to directions.

Even with sporadic use, this is effective in reducing my sun spots
This was recommended by my dermatologist for sun spots on my face. I have sensitive skin and when I first started to use this, my skin peeled and had increased sensitivity, so I was not consistent in my use. I have one very prominent sun spot that is definitely lighter even after minimal use of this product. I have found that using a heavier nightly moisturizing cream after using this helps decrease the peeling. I am starting to use more frequently, so am excited to see the results. I will continue to use this product, as it is definitely effective!
