SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 1.0 enhances the skin's appearance to promote a smoother, rejuvenated complexion. Formulated for skin types pre-conditioned to retinol treatments, it minimizes the appearance of age spots and wrinkles. It also improves elasticity and works effectively to visibly reduce acne scars. With continued use, faster cell renewal is encouraged.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.

This is the absolute best retinol. It did take some time for my skin to get use to it. I had to start out with once weekly then over time twice etc. very beneficial

An essential in my routine
This is a strong and effective retinol, for sure. I worked my way up to the 1.0 and my skin looks much more even (I have lots of hyperpigmentation), has a slightly blushed glow from it and feels like my skin is healthier. I'm 35, combination skin, use it every night (unless it gets a little irritating and I skip a night) and I have really liked this addition (since 5 bottles ago!) being in my nightly routine. In the mornings, I often have some dry flakiness that I exfoliate off and my skin is glowing. LOVE and totally recommend.

My favorite retinol!
I started using this product 5 years ago. It made a huge difference in my skin. I went without it for a few months and well I could tell it. I'm 65 soon to be 66 and people tell me I look to be in my early fifties! Get started on the lower retinol and work your way up as your skin adjusts. You won't regret it. OMG,first of all I have to be honest. Retinol Complex 1.0 is the highest strength, so start out with .25 or .50 if you are a newbie. Even when I gradually stepped up to 1.0, I alternate nightly treatments to avoid overdoing it. It really does have powerfully effective ingredients! I once discontinued use and found that my facial skin became dull and blotchy looking. With routine use, the texture of my skin is much improved. It is also smoother and softer. In fact, many people guess that I am 10 years younger! I'm a believer in retinol and I love the Skin Medica brand of products.
