SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 1.0 enhances the skin's appearance to promote a smoother, rejuvenated complexion. Formulated for skin types pre-conditioned to retinol treatments, it minimizes the appearance of age spots and wrinkles. It also improves elasticity and works effectively to visibly reduce acne scars. With continued use, faster cell renewal is encouraged.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
CAUTION: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant.

A little heavy, with a bit of a smell
I did not love this retinol, as I did not see many results. It also had a bit of a chemically smell and was very thick, more of a cream where I was hoping for a gel or serum consistency. I also did peel some after using it, so would go down to the .5 next time!

Just OK for me
I ordered this when I had run out of my SkinCeuticals Retinol and couldn't locate any on the website. I was hoping would be as effective, but it really hasn't done anything for me. I finally found the Retinol I wanted and am back using it, so I am using this every third night as a break from pure Retinol. I will continue to use until gone and if I note a difference I will made another review. I don't notice an odor and the product goes on smoothly. Just not noticing any difference so far.

Great product works well
I have been using skinmedica products for a few years now. I really like their retinol. It evens my skin tone, helps stimulate more collagen and diminishes fine lines. I recommend starting with a low dose of .25 every other day and working your way up to everyday then going up to the .5 doing the same thing and so on until you can get to the 1%. I personally cannot tolerate the 1% so I have reduced to the .5 and will stay at that level. Everyone is different.

Recommended to me by a dermatologist- it did take a bit of time to adjust to but I expected that. Already seeing a lot of improvement in wrinkles and pigmentation. Lightweight, goes on well with other serums

Fantastic Retinol!
The best retinol! I have fair to light combination skin and have been using this for almost 2 weeks. I can already see it's made a mild difference (fine lines diminished). As other reviews state, its best for skin thats used to having retinol - meaning, don't let this be the first retinol you use (this brand has a few other options for beginners). Start off a few times a week, to gradually every other night, then every night if you wish. I am at 4 or 5 times a week and that works great for my skin. Buy it - its worth the price and you won't regret it!

Disappointed
I usually really like this brand and have used several of their products in the past. This serum however has burned my skin and left red marks and I quit using after 1 week. I routinely use vitamin C serums every morning and have never had this issue in the past. Given the cost of this product don’t recommend.
