SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex .25 is formulated to renew the skin's tone and texture without irritating the skin. Retinol helps combat the signs of premature aging while magnolia bark extract soothes inflammation. Ideal for use twice a week to build tolerance to formula.

Apply in the evening after cleansing and toning and before applying your moisturizer. If a retinol product has never been used before, begin twice a week 2-3 days apart, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Apply to the entire face. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
Caution: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Mild redness, peeling and irritation are expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 30 or higher and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week following discontinuation.

Gentle Retinol
I have very sensitive skin so I was hesitant about using a retinol at all. I started use of this one slowly, every couple of days, but I found I was actually able to use it almost daily without an issue.

This has been really great so far. I can't use it every day yet but even so I'm still seeing results. The flakiness I get is a bummer but to be expected. Just have to get through it. Overall I've noticed a big difference in the texture of my skin. It's so smooth, soft and glowy. (Whem I'm not flaking) I can't remember the last time it looked this good. (I'm 37 btw) Its also already helping with fine lines. They're def less noticable. Overall I really think this is a great formula. Great ingredients to go along with the retinol too. Ceramides, squalane, squalene, vit e, etc. You really can't ask for more. I'll def be repurchasing when I'm about to run out. (Btw, I initially bought the. 5 strength and tried using it for about 8 months but never could get past using it more than 2 times a week without flaking. (Dermatologists say it's better to use a lower strength every day than a stronger one twice a week. ) So I finally gave up and bought this one about a month ago and I definitely feel like I'll be able to get up to using it 5 days a week in a few months. The .5 was just too strong to start out with. And I wouldn't say I have sensitive skin.)

I have used this for years and started very slowly due to my sensitive skin. It has never caused peeling or stinging and the morning after using this, my skin is noticeably smoother and refreshed looking. This is an effective retinol in my opinion. Others I have tried either irritate my skin or have no noticeable results.
