In the evening, apply 4‐5 drops to clean dry skin, avoiding the eye area. Allow product to absorb before applying other skincare products. Limit initial use to once or twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, then every night as tolerated. It is recommended for new users to start with a Retinol 0.3 to establish skin tolerance.
Retinol may increase photosensitivity. Always use a high-protection, broad spectrum sunscreen when using this product.
As a precaution, retinol face creams should not be used by pregnant women or women who intend to become pregnant in the near future. Though there are no reports of topical retinol having any negative effect on fetal development, always consult a physician.

This is the strongest retinol I have ever used and after a couple days of using it my skin felt sunburned and very dry. I cut back to every third day until the dry skin came off and skin wasn't so sensitive. Dark spots have faded significantly and fine lines around eyes are much smooter.

Effective but harsher for sensitive skin types
It's a well-known fact that retinol is supposed to be drying and irritating as your skin acclimates to it, but the 1% strength was a bit too overwhelming for my skin, which has been extra-sensitive as of late. Even when I reduced the frequency of application, my face stung and burn for several days following. With that said, I think this has more to do with my face than the product because I can tell that it works. It glides on smooth and creamy and makes my face feel soft and even right after I put it on. I say if your skin can take it, try it!

I have been struggling to find ANYTHING that will help with acne and aging. I have tried so many products. Based on the reviews, I decided to try this one. I've been using it for about two weeks and I can see a difference. My overall complexion is brighter, my skin is clearer, and I see a decrease in fine lines. It is quite strong and again, based on one of the reviews, I started using it every two days and now every other day. For my skin that is plenty. In conjunction with it, I've started using a plain old moisturizer on the off days and in the mornings. I will keep using it.

Much stronger than I expected.
The cream is actually stronger than the prescription Retin A I got from my dermatologist. However the prescription is .05 strength so it definitely works as well as a prescription drug. I have to work up to using it every other night because of this or I would over dry. I have not been using it long enough to see any real visible results, but I am constantly being told what beautiful skin I have and no one believes I will be 65!

Very effective retinol
Hi, i am a 54 yo lady with very sensitive and prone for adult acne skin. I can use only mineral make-up and very light cream and serum. I was recommended to use skinceuticals retinol three years ago. I started with retinol 0.5 and now use regularly retinol 1.0. In my opinion, this cream is very effective and is drying my oily skin. This is only one cream that helps me to fight my acne, and I've used few OTC and prescribed retinols in the past. I use SkinCeuticals Retinol1 at night with heavy moisturizer. When i have a small irritation I usually will stop applications for couple days but always return back. As a results, my fair skin is glowing and has no wrinkles: Nobody gives me my 54 ! Only 29... again!
