Must have
I have use this every morning for a couple years. It instantly brightens my skin and gives me a bit of glow. I can put moisturizer on top and head out the door for a casual day. I never let myself run out of it!

Safe for acne-probe skin, as it does not contain Laureth 23 like other SkinCeuticals products
I’m one of those people who has tried C E Ferulic over and over again, only to experience clogged pores and break outs every time. I had to make peace with the fact that it’s simply not an appropriate formula for my aging, acne prone skin. The main culprit is not vitamin E like many people think, but Laureth 23, a well documented and known comedogenic “texture enhancing” ingredient. Why SkinCeuticals chooses to use that as the 3rd or 5th ingredient in product ls that only contain 6-9 ingredients is beyond me. This is not an active, it’s about texture in the formulation, and while I’m not a cosmetic chemist, I know there are plenty of other ingredients out there that could be used alternately, that will not cause breakouts and clogged pores. They also have Laureth 23 in their Silymarin, which is specifically marketed for oily, acne prone skin. So frustrating! While their product can claim to be oil free and non-comedogenic, it’s important to remember that these things are not regulated by the FDA or any other agency, so they are essentially just words. You have to ingredient check if you are breakout prone. You can have a popular product with a lot of buzz, expensive, makes big claims-but at the end of the day you’re not going to continue using it if it’s breaking you out. Not worth it. I’m happy to report that Phloretin does NOT cause or exacerbate acne. The pros of the formula are that it’s fairly lightweight, not especially sticky, and doesn’t smell awful-though honestly, if a product works really well, I’m gonna be able to get over the smell. Phloretin wears really well under sunscreen and makeup, which is huge. Again, you can have the best product in the world, but if it’s balling up and feels awful under sun protection, you won’t want to keep purchasing. I have not noticed any pilling when I layer this, so that’s great! Glides on, is non-irritating for me, and soaks in pretty quickly. Did I mention it does not break me out? As for efficacy, it seems to have mild brightening effects, but I can’t really say if it’s done anything for fine lines and wrinkles. This is a lower percentage vitamin C, and I do wish I could get something as potent as the CE ferulic in a non pore clogging formula like Phloretin. I know a lot of people love the brand, and I’ve given multiple formulations a true shot, purchasing bottle after bottle. There’s nothing in the line I absolutely can’t live without. This is definitely my favorite product though. My major complaint besides the addition of comedogenic ingredients in some products is the packaging. A lot of people take issue with it. High-quality vitamin C product is absolutely a worthwhile investment, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask that our investment be protected. An airless pump bottle like drunk elephant (I do not like their vitamin C product AT ALL, as it also contains Laureth 23, but the packaging is smart and cute!) or Allies of Skin packaging would be SO smart for SkinCeuticals to offer. I feel the opening of the bottle is wider than it needs to be, and the dropper itself wide and clunky. I put the product in the palm of my hand (enough with these advertisements and images of people putting the dropper right against their face, UGH) and apply with my fingers, so I’m not really able to close the bottle during application. I worry about oxidization, and possibly tipping it over. Visions of it spilling haunt me. I literally picture of money going down the drain. A popular YouTube dermatologist mentioned that she stocks up on the smaller, travel bottles/promos to make sure she is using the SkinCeuticals vit C up quickly, but as far as I know, these aren’t readily available for regular purchase. There might be a promo here in there for a free bottle of tiny CE ferulic with purchase, But that’s not the same as being able to stock up. We know most vitamin C is just not super stable, so an airless pump seems to be a better option. Really don’t understand why a brand as popular and $$ as SkinCeuticals is not on this. I think they offer one vitamin C product in an airless pump, a different version of Phloretin, but it contains silicone, which is a turn off for me. I feel like silicone in an antioxidant product is sort of blocking it from really being absorbed properly, but I digress. If SkinCeuticals revamped some formulas so as to not contain Laureth 23, consider different packaging, and offer Phloretin CF in a higher percentage vitamin C, I’d be ALL over it! For now, I’m happy to say I at least know Phloretin won’t break me out, and feels like it’s doing some nice things for my skin. We aren’t talking super marked improvement though. Nice enough product, feels good, safe for acne prone skin, but certainly with room for improvement at this price point, imo.

Good serum for aging, acne prone skin, but packaging issues/price point.
I wanted so badly to like CE ferulic, but found it really did clog my pores, so I switched to this. The pros for this product are that it feels light in texture, does not smell too badly, and definitely does not clog my pores. The minuses would be the packaging, as many other people mention. The wide-ish mouth on the bottle is worrisome due to oxidization, and I don’t love the dropper. When I put product in my palm, trying to apply quickly without losing any, I have this fear of the bottle tipping over. I actually visualize money going down the drain. Obviously the price point is high, but I wouldn’t have a problem paying for it if they could just do some thing about the packaging, and perhaps offer a higher percent of vitamin C. I wish that a higher strength was offered in an acne prone skin-friendly formula. C E ferric seems more targeted toward fine lines and wrinkles, while this product seems more for discoloration. I really want the full anti-aging benefits without having to deal with clogged pores or break outs. This is definitely a go-to product in terms of knowing it is safe for my skin, but I am currently giving Allies of Skin a whirl, as the airless pump is great.

Excellent serum!
Skin Ceuticals is a brand I’ve used for years offering excellent skin care products with high quality and hard working ingredients. Phloretin is a light serum for daily use, layers well under moisturizer and makeup. The price tag is high but the results are worthwhile to maintain healthy, youthful skin!

Amazing!
First tried a sample of this product from my dermatologist, and after using it for a week I had to order a full size bottle. This has helped scarring and the overall appearance of my skin.

Lighter than CE ferulic
It’s def. lighter than CE fer. Absorbs quicker and does not sensitize. Better for my oily skin and not tacky. Best result I’ve seen though was from the obaji 15%!

Awesome vitamin c
This vitamin c is excellent to fight off the pigmentation on my skin! No issues with sensitivity or breakouts. Very expensive but this brand does its work to back the products with proven trials.

Smells odd and is not effective
I'm not sure this worked. I tried it from time to time over two years by which time it turned discolored very quickly and is by now probably causing more harm than good. Much prefer smaller ampoules which oxidize less, and go on more smoothly.
