Brighten and balance your skin tone with SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense, a dark spot corrector that reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, medical procedures or acne.
Formulated with 3% Tranexamic Acid, 1% Kojic Acid, 5% Niacinamide, and 5% HEPES, the treatment targets stubborn brown patches and post-inflammatory discolouration to even the skin tone and help to minimise the appearance of future marks with continued use. In as little as two weeks, the complexion will be unified, radiant and visibly healthier-looking.
Suitable for all skin types.
Free from parabens, silicones, fragrances, gluten and hydroquinone.
Due to the concentration of Kojic acid in this formula, a shift in color is expected. This could lead to a light brown or amber color, but the formula remains effective.
Twice daily, apply three to five drops to face. For morning use, apply after a SkinCeuticals vitamin C serum and follow with a SkinCeuticals broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product. Do not use on irritated or broken skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

No improvement in dark spots
I tan easily and unfortunately also am susceptible to hyperpigmentation. I purchased this when it was first released and use it all over my face, and haven't noticed any improvement in my dark spots or freckles. I think it makes my skin feel clearer and smoother in general, but no targeted improvement in spots. Thankfully, it's unscented and absorbs quickly so you can layer this with other skincare products. This is pricey for what it is, and there are other brightening serums I like better, so I can't recommend this.

I think it's working
I have had freckles all my life and that trait has turned in to brown spots now as I age (36). I have been using this product AM and PM pretty religiously for about 5 months now. I have noticed a lot of brightening and evening of my skin tone. I was hoping this serum would do more for the large dark brown spots in a quicker period of time. Still, I believe it is defending against more popping up like it promises!

It goes on nice, not sticky. Im not sure how it helps even or brighten tone, its too soon to tell. Ingredient list is on point. Need more time.

I love Skinceuticals, and I love this cleanser. It makes my skin feel CLEAN without over drying. I have very sensitive, break out prone skin, and have had no bad reactions. Seeing some results!
During the summer, even with sunscreen, I get these dark spots all over my forehead and cheeks. They're already appearing so I decided to give this a try. I'm seeing small results, and hoping to see more as I continue to use it throughout the summer.

Still waiting to see results
I've used this for a couple months now, and have yet to see any changes. I have some sunspots on my cheeks that I was hoping this would fade, but nope. Granted, I've only been using it at night, since I try to avoid exfoliants during the daytime when I know I'll get sun exposure. It has also turned a rather vivid orange color that has stained my pillowcases. I think I will finish the bottle, but am unlikely to repurchase.

Good product
I've probably been using this product for 2 or 3 weeks now and I have seen a little difference in some of my acne scars but not to the point that I'd like. I don't like to judge products this early on because most products take patience and also depends on the individuals problem area. I gave this product a 4 star because I have seen a small difference therefore I feel like it has potential to fulfill my skins needs but definitely not an overnight product.

Has reduced signs of melasma
After having tried hydroquinone and Lytera, I am now using Discoloration Defense + Phloretin and am noticing a big reduction in my melasma. While it is not completely gone, it has significantly improved more so than using any other product.
