Brighten and balance your skin tone with SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense, a dark spot corrector that reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, medical procedures or acne.
Formulated with 3% Tranexamic Acid, 1% Kojic Acid, 5% Niacinamide, and 5% HEPES, the treatment targets stubborn brown patches and post-inflammatory discolouration to even the skin tone and help to minimise the appearance of future marks with continued use. In as little as two weeks, the complexion will be unified, radiant and visibly healthier-looking.
Suitable for all skin types.
Free from parabens, silicones, fragrances, gluten and hydroquinone.
Due to the concentration of Kojic acid in this formula, a shift in color is expected. This could lead to a light brown or amber color, but the formula remains effective.
Twice daily, apply three to five drops to face. For morning use, apply after a SkinCeuticals vitamin C serum and follow with a SkinCeuticals broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product. Do not use on irritated or broken skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

I love skinceuticals, and have used many of their products for several years. I noticed a sunspot and was ordering Emollience anyway, so I figured I’d try the discoloration defense. I use it daily, as recommended, with my SC cleansers and moisturizers. Some days I feel like my skin tone looks more even and some days I feel like I see a shadow where I may have not blended the product as much. This effect changes daily so I figure it’s not set in stone how the product works. Overall, I like it. There is no odor, it absorbs well and appears to work. I will probably purchase this product again!

I wanted to be sure to give this product enough time before evaluating. After 10 weeks of faithfully using the product morning and night I see no appreciable difference at all. No brightening, no evening, nothing. Not every product works for everyone, and this did nothing for me. An expensive epic fail.

Didn’t see huge improvements
Had high hopes for this serum and used it in conjunction with the C E Ferulic for maximum benefit. However I didn’t see too much of an improvement in my hyperpigmentation. Disappointed since it was quite expensive.

Positive results!
I have seen a positive change in my hyperpigmentation since regularly using this product - especially in combination with chemical peels and sunscreen during the day. My sun spots have lightened quite a bit and my skin tone looks more even. I’m on my second bottle now.

Pricey but absolutely worth it
Well worth the money. I use this day and night, just a little fingertip drop. I use the Vitamin C/Feruelic Acid serum during the daytime, after the discoloration defense. It was prescribed this way by my Dermatologist...what a difference. One bottle lasts me about 3 mos, granted I use it twice a day. No sensitivity, but when you first start using it, for the first 2-3 weeks, you will notice small dry patches that peel. I naturally have fair asian skin, but the texture and brightness has improved dramatically.
