Brighten and balance your skin tone with SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense, a dark spot corrector that reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, medical procedures or acne.
Formulated with 3% Tranexamic Acid, 1% Kojic Acid, 5% Niacinamide, and 5% HEPES, the treatment targets stubborn brown patches and post-inflammatory discolouration to even the skin tone and help to minimise the appearance of future marks with continued use. In as little as two weeks, the complexion will be unified, radiant and visibly healthier-looking.
Suitable for all skin types.
Free from parabens, silicones, fragrances, gluten and hydroquinone.
Due to the concentration of Kojic acid in this formula, a shift in color is expected. This could lead to a light brown or amber color, but the formula remains effective.
Twice daily, apply three to five drops to face. For morning use, apply after a SkinCeuticals vitamin C serum and follow with a SkinCeuticals broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product. Do not use on irritated or broken skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

I love using SkinCeuticals products. They are expensive but mostly, they are worth every dollar. I have acne-prone skin and I do everything I can to not have a breakout. But when I do have a breakout, discoloration defense helps get rid of the hyperpigmentation, redness, and scars. I do like retexturing activator better than discoloration defense just because I have started to feel that it does the same job but for a lesser price.

I agree with Michael's review and that this product may be a hit or miss for users. My dermatologist recommended this to use in between my treatments for melasma. Having used 3 bottles over the course of nine months, improvements are very subtle to existing dark spots, and overall, some dark patches do appear relatively lighter, but still noticeable. I also incorporate vitamin C serum, AHA/BHA exfoliant and retinol in my skincare routine, and perhaps these products may have also contributed to my results. I am not convinced as the cost/benefit of this product.

A hit or miss...
I've used this product for a while and while it does work, for more stubborn discoloration, you need an exfoliating product. This won't work very well for older discoloration. If you have newer discoloration, this product will work well. Also, if you have active breakouts, I suggest you don't use this product because you'll be wasting it. Wait until your face clears up and then work on the discoloration.
