SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense is an advanced solution to help eliminate adult acne while addressing wrinkles, fine lines and uneven skin tone. A combination of 2% dioic acid with alpha and beta hydroxy acids prevent blemishes while diminishing hyperpigmentation and reducing wrinkles and fine lines. This targeted treatment also inhibits excess of sebum production, unclogs pores and helps prevent skin darkening from UV exposure.
Key Ingredients:
- 2% Dioic Acid: naturally derived from vegetables, this ingredient helps reduce excess sebum
- 0.3% LHA (Caproloyl Salicylic Acid): a lipo-hydroxy acid, LHA, evenly exfoliates skin, decongests pores, and refines the skin’s surface
- 1.5% Salicylic Acid: a beta-hydroxy acid refines pores and helps reduce the formation of acne

A must for combating maskne
I tried this out initially in one of the Dermstore kits for acne. My maskne has been terrible this past year and I've been desperate to find a new regimen to help combat the zits! I started out applying in the morning per the kit's instructions, but found it to be too drying even after layering on a moisturizer and the EltaMD sunscreen after. I switched to nights so I can layer on a thicker moisturizer and that seems to have helped. It's really helped clear up my skin! If you're struggling with the maskne this is a must.

Just Okay, Wouldn't Recommend
Wanted to try something other than my usual is Clinical active serum (which costs a whopping $140). I'm late-20s with acne-prone skin, and I was drawn to this because of its slightly lower price point. I didn't notice much of a difference when I put this on at night. I think there's some benefit from the exfoliating acids, but it didn't have as dramatic an effect as I've gotten from other products. I still needed to go in with a spot treatment on top of areas with active acne. Kind of a let down because I use so many of Skinceuticals' other products! It was just okay.

Didn't fully work for me
I really wanted this to work like a miracle on my adult acne that has been worse this year - especially maskne - based on all the rave reviews. I am almost through a bottle while writing this review. I think it has kept my acne at bay but not really eliminated it or decongested pores. There is some but not significant improvements in signs of aging or uneven skin tone. That being said most blemishes do not get to the angry stage and are less blotchy, the product is suitable for combo and acne prone skin.

Definitely lives up to the hype
In all honesty, I don't get the hype about SkinCeuticals. My aesthetician loves their products and my dermatologist highly recommends them, but I've never really seen any significant results from them. Except for this product. It clears up breakouts and I've even used it to prevent contact dermatitis and all without drying out my skin. I will never be out of this product.
