Great alternative to SA, BP, but STINKS!
This stuff definitely works but the smell absolutely STINKS (like a sewer, or something else you can probably imagine). I've been using Clinique's Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel (2% Salicylic Acid), but I was sick of my breakouts being super red and inflamed the next day to the point where I was embarrassed and would pop them, which obviously is the worst thing you can do. My aesthetician recommended something with Sulfur, specifically this PTR treatment. I wanted to find something that would dry out and kill the bacteria, even if that meant a longer purging process, that didn't stain my pillowcase (so Benzoyl Peroxide was out of the question). The consistency is a bit like a clay mask, so it dries fast and matte (no shiny finish) and there is a slight stinging sensation, all of which I do not mind. I love the product so far (been about a week on current breakouts). The only thing is that it really smells terrible.. the smell mostly dissipates after the product dries, but it lingers for sure. Oh well, that's the tradeoff for less inflamed pimples that I'll endure!

Gentle but not too effective for me
Maybe it's because my skin is too insensitive, I don't get too much of an effect from this product. The ingredients seem nice but it just doesn't work as fast. I would recommend this product to people with sensitive skin but not those who are not sensitive and want fast results.

Fast Results
After reading all the positive reviews here and on the PTR web site I gave it a try. It really does work fast , especially when you noticed a break out just starting. It does not leave my skin red after use.

Effective and non-drying
To be honest I was shocked how well this worked. Two nights of use and my breakouts are clearing up (even a particularly annoying zit I haven't been able to get rid of) and my skin doesn't feel dry or tight. It does have a pretty strong sulfur smell which is a little annoying so I'm only using at night . But it's working so I'm happy!

Replaced Old Murad Spot Treatment
I used Murad's spot treatment for years. They recently reformulated it and replaced the 2% sulfur with 3.4% benzoyl peroxide. Unfortunately my super sensitive skin does not tolerate benzoyl peroxide. After hours of searching for a product with sulfur that didn't contain alcohol (it has cetyl alcohol which my skin tolerates) I found the PTR Acne Spot and area treatment. The biggest difference is that it contains 5% colloidal sulfur as well as salicylic and glycolic acid to help exfoliate the pore to clear out dead skin and debris. I have a slight sulfur allergy (I know) so it does make my skin itch when I first apply it but apart from that it doesn't burn or irritate my skin. It did dry my skin out if I apply it too frequently but nothing like any spot treatment that isn't sulfur based. This is my third time purchasing this spot treatment and I absolutely recommend trying it. It is a really good replacement for the old Murad formulation if you're looking for one!

zits beware
This product works! I apply nightly to my monthly breakouts and it doesn't last more than a day. There is no stinging or itching and the results are quick
