PCA Skin BPO 5% Cleanser eliminates acne-causing bacteria without the use of irritating surfactants that can damage and aggravate the skin. Its clarifying formula features a 5% concentration benzoyl peroxide to heal and prevent breakouts. Aloe, cucumber, nettle and chamomile extracts comfort and calm inflammation to leave the complexion looking clear, even and refreshed.
Apply a small amount of cleanser to damp skin with fingertips and massage into a light foaming lather. Wash in a gentle circular motion. Rinse with warm (not hot) water and pat dry. Start with one treatment daily or as directed by a physician.

Purchased the BPO cleanser after reading tons of reviews and decided on this one. As others said, it can be drying but it does work! I've seen a reduction in the number of cystic spots on my face since I started using the cleanser. A little goes a long way!

Pretty good for acne-prone skin
I was suggested this cleanser by an esthetician who gave me an acne-focused facial. I found it initally a bit drying and the smell is not particularly enjoyable (smells medicated and lingers), but I've found that it is pretty effective during acne flare-ups. I use it when I have bouts of hormonal acne and it definitely calms the skin. It doesn't seem to prevent acne, and the smell is kind of iffy, but overall, works pretty well when acne flares up.

Repurchasing
At the age of 25 I began experiencing terrible acne. Salicylic acid cleansers weren't helping. I read that salicylic acid is good for exfoliating and helping clear out pores but benzoyl peroxide helps kill the bacteria that causes acne. So I decided to give this a try. I was a little hesitant because I had a BAD reaction to a benzoyl peroxide 10% spot treatment. This face cleanser did NOT cause any of those bad reactions whatsoever. My face is 100x better than it was. Now I am just trying to fade/rid the scars that are left behind. I can't say 100% that this was like the ONE thing that cleared my skin because I also began using a birth control to target acne about the same time that I started this and I followed a skincare regimen with other products. BUT I do believe this helped so I am about to repurchase it. It isn't drying -granted I moisturize well. It lasted me a little shy of 3 months. Nothing wrong with the smell- I noticed this complaint in other reviews, if anything I guess it might have a slight "medicated" scent to it. I started only using once a day, maybe even every other day, but I now use it twice a day. I would definitely recommend giving this a try if other salicylic acid products aren't helping you!

LOVE this cleanser
I LOVE PCA products - I dont know why there isnt more hype! I am pretty devoted to their clear completion bar so I was hesitant to stray, but I was not a huge fan of having to use the sponge that comes with it and my skin was still getting pretty oily throughout the day. I have combination, sensitive, acne prone skin. Usually I have to fight it using a good cleanser with lots of topicals all while watching what I eat & drink, etc. I feel like with this cleanser, I dont need to be as diligent with those other things. It has pretty much eliminated all of the inflammatory acne on my face all on its own! In fact, I bought the very expensive PCA acne gel spot treatment along with this cleanser, thinking I would need to use it daily, and Ive only had to use it ONCE. I have also found that when using this cleanser, my skin does not get oily throughout the day and stays pretty balanced. That being said, possibly the only drawback with this cleanser is the benzoyl peroxide. I know it is the reason this cleanser works so well and it is a very low concentration, but BP is still a free radical that actually damages skin over time. Being a mid-30s lady with aging skin, that is somewhat troubling. But for the time being, I am enjoying being acne free for the first time in many, many years!

Love it and will buy again
I usually have to wash my face twice to get my makeup off. This cleanser is thick and works so well, I only have to wash once. I haven't used it long enough to determine if its helping reduce breakouts.
