Surprisingly...gentle!?
I've been on a tretinoin prescription at 0.1% and it was far too strong for me (I started out 3x a week and stopped altogether). Instead, I'm trying to build up to that strength so I opted for purchasing Obagi's Retinol 1.0. What a good decision! This is surprisingly gentle and a little goes a long way to cover the entire face and neck. I do experience some dryness and redness as a result, but very minimal 'irritation' as opposed to tretinoin. There is also some flaking that comes with use (I use it 3x a week, building it up slowly). No scent, texture is nice, packaging is AMAZING with an airtight pump so as to preserve the ingredients. Incredible and will repurchase!

The only product that works wonders on my skin immediately. I have problematic, sensitive skin. I used to use this in college .. even after many late nights, make up applications, and even just picking (i know, bad habit) this product saved my skin. I was later able to use the strongest retinoid (tretinoin). Ever since I stopped using this (and retinoids in general), my skin has gone downhill. But now I'm going back to using this product because I know it's the only thing that is effective for me, and eventually I'll use tret again.

I learned of the Obagi product line recently when I consulted a dermatologist who carries it in his office. I have used an alpha hydroxy product regularly, day and night, for several years. But I had been looking for a retinol product to use in place of the alpha hydroxy at night in order to really work on fine lines and wrinkles around my mouth. I've only been using this for a few weeks, so I can't yet see a result. I generally only use it around my mouth. But this appears to be a quality product that I will rebuy. It is definitely dermatologist strength, so I feel it should only be used a couple of times a week at first to see how your skin will react to it-especially if you have sensitive skin (as I do). Ideally you should probably consult a dermatologist first before using this.

I can feel it working
There's nothing like a retinol to feel like you're really fighting the war against aging. I love how this feels when I put it on each night. For someone who has dull, congested skin like me, I notice an immediate difference of smoother, brighter skin in the morning. As far as those age spots and lines, they're stubborn, but if I'm consistent, I know retinol will work. I can see slight differences so far, but I'm only a couple weeks in.

Really like this cream. Press down on the pump top for perfect pearl sized drop. Spreads easily I use every night unless my skin starts to get irritated then I back off to every other night. I have combination skin that's gotten dryer over the years so I use a good moisturizer with this, especially under eyes and on my cheeks. I follow up during the day with a vitamin C serum, hyaluronic acid moisturizer and of course slather on sun block. I like Nuetrogena ultra sheer liquid sunscreen SPF 70 (pocket sized) but they have tons of great ones on here as well... The Obagi one is nice, I've used it as well. Would not use anything less than SPF 30

I used to use a Rx retinol for my acne. I cleared me right up but it was so irritating. So I switched to this every night and I get similar results with no irritation! This is a really nice product, similar to the skinceuticals but cheaper! :) (which I've also used) Can't speak to anti-aging claims, but this prevents acne including blackheads.
