Obagi360 Retinol 0.5 is an ideal product to introduce your skin to retinol treatments. A lower concentration of 0.5% retinol boosts cell turnover to minimize acne, fine lines and wrinkles while diminishing hyperpigmentation. great for newbies
new to retinol at 40. This was a perfect intro to retinol. I did not experience the excessive drying and peeling other users have spoken about. In fact I felt it was too gentle, because retinol is so far down the ingredient list at 11th in Obagi's version. I followed the recommendations DermStore blog about allowing face to thoroughly dry before applying versus damp skin which can drive the product to deeper layers in the skin causing negative reactions. I also followed up with a moisturizing serum, from bioderma. I also used an exfoliator 2 weeks before starting this product. All of these steps helped the product to work more effectively. My skin is smoother ,brighter and acne scars are fading with everyday use after less than six weeks. For newbies I recommend this, will try a different line of retinol with the ingredient earlier in the list like skin medica at 8th over all

Very Gentle but Not Strong Enough
I ordered the 0.5% to try because I was afraid of the burning and peeling that I had experienced with Retin-A in high school, but that did not happen with this product. I use it every other night alternating with a glycolic serum and only had minor flaking the first week. I didn't notice the results I was expecting as far as acne control, so I will probably move up to the 1% version once this tube is empty.

I use this 0.5 Retinol every other night and my skin looks amazing. No more breakouts or dryness - just perfect skin. Even my dermotologist says my skin looks great. I use it with a Resveratrol product and it keeps my skin glowing. If you have sensitive skin, start with th 0.5 every other night. If your skin tolerates it, you can either do everynight or move up to the 1.0.
