Dark spot correction

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

First off I really love this brand. Great price point great quality. The serum feels amazing on my skin. Very hydrating. My skin looks better already. I think it’ll take a while before I can really say how it’s attacking my aging.

Love this serum, I go back and forth between this and the effaclar depending on how much my acne is flairing up

Definitely Works

Worked to brighten dark areas from acne and scarring but appears to have lost some effectiveness the more I use it. Appears I may have hit the threshold on seeing a reduction of darker cheek bone area dark spots.

NOT Alcohol-Free

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

The one-star rating is for the misleading/flat out false claim that it's alcohol-free. The product page for this clearly highlights it as alcohol-free under the "Key Details" section, but if you read the ingredient list, the second item is "alcohol denat" (a.k.a. denatured alcohol). Denatured alcohol is a simple alcohol that, unlike fatty alcohols, dehydrates skin and disrupts the barrier. While some people might not have reactions to it, it's not great for anyone's skin and it's definitely not safe for those of us with eczema. One of my favorite things about Dermstore is how it highlights key ingredients or lack of specific irritants in products, but it looks like I'll need to pay careful attention to the ingredient lists from now on.

Way too strong for sensitive skin!

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

I tried this product in hopes it would help fade melasma spots. Instead it completely stripped my skin and turned me lobster red. This product is entirely too strong for my sensitive skin. I'm disappointed.

Mixed feelings

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

I bought this product to help fade a few darker pigmented areas on my face, not really wanting to use it all over my face, but more in targeted areas. The eye dropper type application method is not a favorite of mine. I find it clumsy and not an effective way to put the product on the skin as compared to other ways (perhaps a pump to disperse onto your fingers instead?) I've been using this less than a month, and so far I do see a lightening of the darker areas, but it also seems to have made those areas peel a bit and I am far from someone with sensitive skin. The jury is still out on whether I would buy this product again.
