What an essence should be
I always have a toner and an essence in my skin routine. Most essences have the same consistency as a toner, this one is thicker and more emollient. The probiotics are a big plus. Skin feels plump and moisturized right away! I would say this is the more affordable option, to SK-II (the holy grail of essences). Glad I tried it (finally!) and this is such a great overall brand.

Hydrating
I was looking for a new toner just to shake things up a bit in my routine. I searched Dermstore and found quite a few that sounded good. With winter rapidly approaching, I wanted something that would add some extra hydration. Having sampled Eminence products in the past and having positive results, I decided on this one. What sold me was the inclusion of kombucha as well as probiotics, which I fins to be soothing as well as helpful. Some people seem to think that the purpose of a toner is to remove any residual gunk on your face after cleansing. Yes, it's helpful for that, but it should also be more than that. This is skincare, and it does make my face hydrated. It also feels like it's protecting my barrier. It does these things and others quite well. I'm not 100% sure if I'm committed to repurchase only because there are others I would like to try, but I can say that if you're looking for a product that goes beyond just cleansing and actually does something for your skin I would absolutely recommend this one!

I LOVE Essences
I absolutely love having an essence in my skin care routine. I've tried high end to low end and everything in between. This is a very nice one. I use it not only to pat on my skin after washing and toning, I then add a little to the HA I use (which is somewhat thick) to make it absorb faster, and then do a final splash just to make sure the HA has enough moisture to plump my skin. For this it serves it's purpose quite well. However, the list of ingredients is very long, and most of the better ingredients are near the bottom of the list. It does make my skin feel soft and hydrated, but there are others on both ends of the price spectrum as good or better. I can't say for sure that I wouldn't repurchase, because it does have a bit of a luxury appeal. What I can definitely say is that I recommend you give it a try!
