Unsure if essences are actually beneficial in general, but like this one
I want to preface everything by saying I'm not sold on the whole essence thing. I've used them for a while now and I just don't know if they actually do anything. And it isn't because I'm using bad brands. I've used this one as well as SK-II and others. All that aside, the Birch Water Essence smells AMAZING, and it does feel really nice when I pat it on. I use it just in case it is doing something.

Purifying essence OR purifying holy water?
Just started to use this product as my daily toner and it does help to keep my skin hydrated! I can have really oily skin - even after I wash my face - but this product helps to keep my skin normal. Even if my cleanser has stripped my skin of too many essential oils, this Birch Water helps my skin to acclimate (pH levels)! BONUS: pores are less clogged! Living in the bay area with these really smoky air days would usually cause dramatic breakouts for me, but my skin is hydrated and looking pretty pure still!

Broke Me Out
I am a huge Eminence fan, so I was excited to try this essence. First of all, the smell is divine! Very earthy. The only downfall is that there is denatured alcohol in this product. I tend to stay away from that ingredient because it is very irritating to my skin, and I am certain it is the reason why I broke out with this product. Once I stopped using it, my skin began to clear up again. The packaging is beautiful to look at, but not practical. It is made out of glass, and it completely shattered all over my bathroom floor. I will stick with the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist instead.

Birch Water essence
I don't know about you but when I think of birch water it feels light and has a natural light fragrance . This essence has too much of a perfume smell for my taste and it is a bit tacky on the face. Eminence suggests layering it over their toner and I find that it is just too much. I will not order it again.

Birch Water Purifying Essence Review
I am new to adding the essence step to my routine. This is a watery-textured product which I apply with finger tips by patting in after my tonic (of another brand) step. I strongly suggest that you review the instructional information on Eminence's YouTube channel (see https://youtu.be/7bahdiNgUKk) or at their U.S. site (see https://eminenceorganics.com/us/product/birch-water-purifying-essence) prior to making this investment in order to get the best experience from your purchase. I am over 65 with quite sensitive skin, and my primary concern is visible pores, which I attribute to reduced elasticity. I do notice that the product when applied creates a very slight tack, which anchors subsequent products (serum and moisturizer) effectively. Performance under makeup would vary based upon foundation composition. Dermstore provides a complete listing of ingredients (see https://www.dermstore.com/product_Birch+Water+Purifying+Essence_80872.htm) for your review of any potential conflicts. To date, I have used the product as described above one to two times per day for approximately 2.5 weeks with no negative results. I would not anticipate visible changes in so short a time and, therefore, plan to use the product in full prior to making a decision regarding making it a stable part of my routine. The four-star rating is based on the absence of negative impact on sensitive skin but reduced from five stars based on a lack of longer-term result experience to report. Please note, if you purchase, that particulate matter may be found in the product as noted on the packaging so that it should be shaken prior to use and kept within a certain temperature range.
