Should you exfoliate the night before retinol?
As part of her Skin Cycling program, Dr. Bowe recommends you exfoliate the night before retinol. This helps to remove dead surface cells and prepare skin for the absorption of subsequent formulations. Be careful not to over-exfoliate; this can damage the skin barrier and cause irritation.
