New Fav Sunscreen

I love this sunscreen, so glad I tried it out! I typically only use physical sunscreens, because chemical versions make me break out, and I'm not thrilled with the idea of some of those chemical filters getting into my blood stream. The problem? Most physical sunscreens are heavy, leave a a shiny white cast, take a while to fully absorb, and don't layer well under makeup. I like the Elta MD spf 41 (which is tinted), and the Josie Maran (the un-tinted version, though I've heard the tinted is also great); Maelove's is also ok. However, this is definitely my new fave. Its tint is great for me (I have light, bordering fair, skin), it's smoothing, and you can apply the full amount you should (1/4 tsp) to get the stated spf protections without it pilling or looking cake-like. I have been known to wear it on its own on no-makeup makeup days because of the skin-tone evening properties, its blurring effect, and because it doesn't leave the skin super shiny looking. Depending on your skin type, if you want to wear it on it's own, you may want to lightly powder it (I do this sometimes to even out my skin tone more, not because it's too glowy or because it slips and slides around my face). But it evens out my skin really nicely, with a slight light-from-within look that's too glowy. I actually like to wear it on it's own more than the Elta MD because I think the finish is pretttier. Having said that, it also layers really well under makeup (I wait at least 5-8 minutes in between, but haven't tested that timing out), whether you use a powder or liquid foundation, and it doesn't affect the finish of the foundation (I mostly just wear sheer, light or medium, and haven't tested it with a full-coverage foundation). The downsides? Is it still more expensive than I'd like to pay for a sunscreen? Yes, but I love that it has good for your skin ingredients like ceramides and Vitamin E, doesn't have any fragrance (it has no smell) or chemical sunscreen ingredients, plus is reef safe. The other downside isn;t a problem for me personally, but the general fact that 'universal' skin tints are rarely 'universal' for everyone, just white people. I don't know if this would work for people with darker skin tones, it's just too hard to tell, but I'm skeptical. Hopefully, Dermstore, you're reading this and you'll come out with a few different tints, so everyone really can enjoy this product, not just those with fair/light/medium complexions. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend you try it-or buy the smaller, 0.75 oz size as I did (although now I wish I had just bought the larger size, given Dermstore's generous return policy). If you think that you're allergic to all sunscreens, I recommend you check this or another physical (also called mineral) sunscreen out, and see if maybe your skin is just unhappy with chemical filters, like mine is. For reference, I'm caucasian, in my mid-thirties, and have fair-to-light skin that's on the dryer side, and is somewhat sensitive, breaking out in reaction to a variety of different ingredients. Hope this review helps you make the right buying decision for you!

Solid Sunscreen Choice

Got this in a BeautyFIX box and it's a solid sunscreen choice. I don't get super excited for sunscreen, but it's important to wear so I'm always glad to have some more onhand and samples are perfect for keeping in my bag. This one had a nice texture and I much prefer it to drugstore sunscreen brands.

Solid Sunscreen

I really liked this sunscreen! I have sensitive acne prone skin and this did not irritate or clog my pores. It did not leave a white cast which is a huge plus. I don't have much luck with sunscreens and I've tried so many, this one is one of my top favorite. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars it's because I'm not a huge fan of the texture it feels more like a primer. But I will definitely repurchase and recommend.

Such a good facial SPF

I received this in my beauty fix box and I absolutely love it! I didn't even know dermstore made their own branded products, but this one is great. The formula is so silky smooth and has a beautiful finish. I have an obsession with face sunscreen and I've tried them all, this one ranks really high for me. Only downside is that I wish it were spf 50 instead of 40, but I would still repurchase.

Dermstore for the win

Received this in my BeautyFix box and can never get enough sunscreen samples. This product goes on well, is lightweight, and kept my face sunburn free after a day in the pool. A definite win!

Affordable sunscreen

Such an amazing sunscreen that leave zero cast! It feels really nice on my skin and doesn't make me oily. The packaging it's simple but cute. It has a light tint but nothing to worry about. I would definitely repurchase this

Dermstore Daily Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40,

What a wonderful, new find! I am trying to get into the habit of wearing sun screen as a part of my morning ritual. This sunscreen is one of the best I have ever tried. It goes on like a dream, doesn't have that "horrible sunscreen smell", and dries to a nice, almost powdery finish. It does not leave that horrible white cast, and you can use it the same as you would a primer. One of the best things about this product is the ingredient list. In addition to the SPF, you also get ingredients that are actually good for your skin. A true win , win.

Have been using for a little while now

Thanks to BeautyFix, I was able to get more of one my favorite sunscreens! I love the ingredients and it worked great for my sensitive skin too. It does make a little white cast, but it quickly goes away and makeup is easy to apply on top, without any pilling, I will continue to keep buying, as I really like this sunscreen!

Not my fav texture, but still a great option!

I have somewhat mixed feelings on this sunscreen, but overall they are positive. This sunscreen very much feels like a silicone based primer in terms of texture ... which I'm not the biggest fan of. It isn't very easy to spread without tugging (I've been kind of patting it in which works well enough) BUT I will repurchase for a few reasons. I have very sensitive, fair/light, rosacea-prone, combo leaning dry skin that is just incredibly finicky with a lot of different products I've tried...namely sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens tend to really irritate me, but a lot of zinc based sunscreens (which are supposedly better for sensitive skin) tend to dry out my skin...So it's been difficult to find something that works for me. This product hasn't dried me out, hasn't broke me out, or caused ANY irritation whatsoever. I tried the smaller size of the two options to make sure I liked it first, which I'd recommend doing. Also NO white cast and the tint works well with my light/neutral skin tone. My biggest complaints are the amount you get for the price, the difficulty with spreading this over your skin, and the texture. But I DO think this is a good option with all that in mind. I haven't worn it with makeup yet...so I may need to update my review based on that...But I would recommend giving this a try, and kudos to Dermstore for making an SPF option!!!
