Decent toner. Doesn't dry my skin out. I'm currently using retinol so this goes well in my skin routine. I haven't noticed any brightening effects yet However it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed.

Worth the extra $ and step

One of the BEST
I've used this for years and it really is an essential step in your face care routine. It feels like water going on your skin, which makes you think it's doing absolutely nothing. Don't be fooled. This clears skin, preps it for serums and moisturizers, and brightens like nothing else. I switch off between this and NYDG Essence which is thicker and fermented. Both are amazing and worth the extra step.

This Small Step Makes a HUGE Difference
I always thought an "essence" sounded a lot like marketing hype, but this one happens to deliver. I apply it once or twice a day with a cotton round before my serums and creams and I've found that it makes everything I use work that much harder. Plus, I notice results much quicker. It really fades dark spots and my pores are much less noticeable when I use it. It's non-irritating on my (moderately) sensitive skin, and I suspect that it's helping to reduce my breakouts, as well. I like the slightly "grassy" scent, personally, and feel like it makes my skin feel super clean. My only criticism is that I find that I go through a bottle pretty quickly, even though it's quite large. That could just be how I apply it, but I think using my fingertips instead of a cotton round would actually waste more product. I literally use up about a bottle per month, which is expensive, but my skin misses it when I skip. It also feels a little luxurious with the beautiful glass bottle.
