Avène Retinal 0.05 Cream corrects and prevents the signs of aging with a patented mixture of refining and retexturizing ingredients. This paraben- and fragrance-free formula utilizes a high concentration of Avène Thermal Spring Water, retinaldehyde and relastide peptides to smooth away fine lines and fill in wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. Skin is more toned, fuller and firmer.

Great option
Love this product! I have sensitive, rosacea skin and this is not irritating. I did experience some mild dryness for about 2 weeks and then after that my skin acclimated nicely. It’s too soon to see long term effects, however, my skin does feel smoother having used the product for several weeks. After I finish the 0.5 I plan on purchasing the 1.

Great for sensitive, reactive skin
This is a great product for sensitive, reactive skin. It keeps my hormonal cystic acne at bay and is more gentle compared to prescription strength Retin-A. I haven't had any irritation. Just be sure to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. Avene is a brand you can trust for sensitive skin.

Wonderful Retrinal product!
I just started using this Vitamin A cream a few months ago on recommendation of a YouTuber who is an MD/Dermatologist - this product contains Retinaldehyde which is effective for anti-aging but not as irritating. After a few months of use, I am so impressed! I had a few pimples on my jawline and this cream reduced it quickly. It's easy to use, you only need one pump for the face (two for face and neck), it has a thick cream texture that layers nicely under my night time moisturizer. It is a little thick/heavy so I don't know if this is good for those with oily skin, it may be too heavy, so just FYI. The packaging is air and light-tight, which preserves the ingredients. I can't wait to see the long-term results this is a really nice product!

Not for my skin
I bought the Avène Retrinal 0.05 Cream because a dermatologist recommended it. I have sensitive acne-prone skin, and this product made my skin breakout, especially on my cheeks with painful nodules, where I usually don't have acne. I waited for my skin to recover and tried again with similar results. As I used this product for only a few weeks, I cannot attest its benefits as an anti-aging cream. My advice for anyone trying this out for the first time is to start using it every other day to see how your skin reacts. A special note: dispenser is really good! You get the exact amount of cream you need with zero waste of product.

The Perfect Retinol?
I really wanted to incorporate a retinol into my routine, but my sensitive skin was having a difficult time accepting even a 0.5 strength after more than a year of ramping up with a 0.25 strength product. After a lot of research, I found this Avene product was one of only two retrinal products on the market. This one is gentle - but still effective - and causes NO peeling.

Gentle but greasy
I typically only apply this product to my forehead and laughlines, but I feel like my whole face ends up feeling greasy. I am not going to plan on repurchasing. I would recommend for people with sensitive skin, but I don't love it.
